Ariana Grande’s most recent released album, thank u, next does amazing on the worldwide charts with her series of heartfelt songs. The album was released to her audience shortly after releasing a few well known singles, “thank u, next,” “7 rings,” and “imagine.” A lot of Grande’s fans believe that her inspiration for this album is from her recent break-up with fiance, Pete Davidson and the sudden accidental overdose that led to the tragic death of her ex, Mac Miller.

One of the songs featured on the album, “ghostin,” shows a lot of emotion when she says, “You been so understanding, you been so good, And I’m puttin’ you through more than one ever should, And I’m hating myself ’cause you don’t want to, Admit that it hurts you.” This would be referring to Grande and Davidson’s relationship after the death of Miller, since Grande had such a strong connection with him.

Many of her songs are focused around her recent struggles and how they have affected her, and a lot of her fans, emotionally. Some people believe that some of her lyrics could even be inspired by the trauma she experienced from the Manchester bombing at her previous concert in 2017.

In her song “fake smile,” on the album, she expresses her struggle with her anxiety and psd from the bombing and about how she is done with faking her smile and her emotions.

After the Manchester bombing, Grande cancelled the rest of her tour. She told The Guardian, a news source, “I can never sing these songs again. I can’t put on these outfits. Don’t put me in this     position.” This impacted a lot of her fans, but she has recently announced another tour this year.

Grande talks a lot about her independence and confidence in the hit track, “NASA” where she makes a remix to Neil Armstrong’s famous quote about landing on the moon. She says, “One small step for woman, one giant leap for womankind.” In this song, she refers to herself as a star in space and no one can take her (star) shine from her.

One of the most popular tracks on the album is called“thank u, next” (the album is named after this popular single, which was later added to the album upon release) is based off of her previous ex’s. She states that she is grateful for the love they gave her and what they taught her.

Grande announced that originally, there was supposed to be a song titled “remember” on thank u, next, but decided that the song was to personal to release to the public. Instead, she replaced the song with “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored,” a more catchy song.

thank u, next is very emotional and overall, a very sentimental soundtrack to a break-up and beyond. Anyone who listens to the type of music that is very touchy about feelings or emotions, and are interested in pop-based music, there is a likely chance of you liking this album.
