The River City High School cross country attended their second league meet at Muller Ranch in Yolo county on October 7th.
The team as a whole finished in fourth place out of seven schools which was an improvement from the last meet where they finished fifth.
The race took place at a vineyard, west of Woodland and the course had several hills. The varsity race was also a little over the normal three mile race and instead was 3.17 miles.
“This race was the hardest course of the season. It’s all in the preparation to succeed and also a mental toughness game because you can never count yourself out,” said RCHS senior runner Gonzalo Garcia Jr.
Notable finishes included Senior Michael Dunham who finished the race in 22:05, senior Andrey Ignatesko finished the race in 22:46, and junior George Hernandez finished in 23:35.
RCHS senior Geronimo Angeles said, “Everyone gave their all and our team has improved so much since the first league meet. I definitely feel that we will get better and better after each race.”
The team will have their final league meet at Wild Wings on October 29.
